Ah, change is upon me.
This is the final week I am at my current office location. My company is moving our building to our new Global Headquarters this weekend. Tons of reviewing files, purging, tossing and packing to do.
Change is inevitable.
Our new Global Headquarters is already half staffed. Our 'other' building moved into it in September. Once we get all the packing done on Friday, we get to go home for the weekend and head to the new location Monday morning.
Change is sad.
With this move, my commute will no longer take me through the back country roads where I pass horse farm after horse farm. I have one distinct, memorable commute that will remain with me as long as I have my wits about me. I was driving down the road at 50 mph or so and a herd of horses was galloping alongside me as I drove. I felt like I was watching a movie with a panoramic, front row view of these beautiful equines. Up close and personal. Amazing.
Now my commute will take me back to one of the most congested highways in the area. Good news is I am only on it for an exit or two (depending upon which exit I get on), but this highway is always busy and in the summer, even worse!
I will miss my backroad commute. It was always so peaceful and enjoyable and prepared me for what I had to face when I got to my destination; work or home.
Change is exciting.
Finally, after eight years all our 'corporate' associates will be in one location AND we'll all have security badges to boot. Now I will be able to identify who's a company associate and who's not! Hard to believe but currently we have no security badges, just a key fob to enter the building so when you see folks who you don't know, you have no idea if they work for the company, are an outside contractor or are a supplier here on a business call.
Change can be good or bad. It's all in how you handle it. Overall, I'm looking forward to the change... In the words of my good friend Martha, "It's a good thing."
Now back to purging, tossing & packing. Hope I don't get lost in the sea of orange packing crates!
Best of luck in your new diggs. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks MK, who knows...maybe, just maybe, I'll get another job within the company...now that CHANGE would be the most welcomed change of all! ;)
