I Feel As Though I Have Gone Back In Time...

To a place that existed long, long ago, yet is alive and well today.

I have the great fortune to be on vacation in Hawaii and instead of choosing the 'Big Island' and the touristy things, I took two weeks vacation and planned a relaxing vacation with the dear hubby.

And I could not be more happy with what awaited us when we arrived in Kauai, HI!

How's this for you?  When we landed we got leid!  What a great way to be greeted!  As some of you long time readers know, it's been years since I have been laid! LOL!  Just kidding with you but I couldn't resist the pun... yes, that's right, it was intended and yes, that's right, we did get leid at the airport!

Take a gander at the lamp that is part of the decor in our cottage...
(ahem, aforesaid leis lying next to lamp)

Love It!  How cool?  THIS is the Hawaii I Love!
Rather than babble on about how quaint, picturesque and simple Kauai is, I'm just going to let my pictures tell you the story so get prepared for

A Day On The West End of Kauai
I present for your viewing pleasure...
Waimea

Just as the sun was rising, a glimpse outside our living room showed the ocean just beyond the trees.
A view towards the ocean from the main house.
A view from the ocean towards the main house and mountains beyond.
One of the many banyan trees on the property, gorgeous, simply gorgeous!
And a close up of the trunks... how intricately they entwine amongst each other.

Our simple, Hawaiian cottage.  Beautiful in it's simplicity.

Been called the Grand Canyon of the West...
 And we could see why.
The images don't do it justice, simply spectacular views all around!
 The sun set...
The stars!  What an awesome display of wonder up in the sky.
Heading up north tomorrow to see the tropical greenery

Hurray For...

Got to play the typical tourist today.

Saw the gate that leads to the house
that Michael Jackson lived and died in.

And then what to my wandering eye should appear?
But MJ himself
with no tiny reindeer!

Ha! Gotcha!
JK with ya...
Here's ole MJ himself...

Venice Beach was fun too!

I got to put my toes in the Pacific Ocean
for the first time on Venice Beach today.
One of the things on MY bucket list!
Check!

And so it goes...

One More Day...

(song made famous in Les Miserables)

Tomorrow we'll be far away,
Tomorrow is the judgement day

Tomorrow we'll discover
What our God in Heaven has in store!
One more dawn
One more day
One day more!

Okay, well maybe not all these words literally but how about these words with the same bravado and tune?

Tomorrow we'll be far away,
Tomorrow starts my vaca days.

Tomorrow we'll discover
What our hard work has paid for!
One more dawn
One more day
One      Day     More!!!

Can't wait to get away!

Shall we never, ever forget...

9-11-01
A day ingrained in my memory.
Such a weird day.
Clear blue skies, no humidity,
crisp air... it was the perfect day...

until...

the first plane hit the World Trade Center...

then the second plane, while on live TV, forcefully hit the 2nd World Trade Center...

then word that the third plane crashed into a bucolic Pennsylvania field on it's way to a Washington, D.C. target... Let's Roll! ~Scott Beamer

then the Pentagon attack...

What was going on?  America under attack.

Countless lives were lost and affected by these senseless acts of terrorism.

And today, I remember, I pray and I state proudly that I am a citizen in the best country in the world regardless of our

  • faults...
  • race...
  • religion...
  • beliefs...

we always stand united
in these
United States of America.

God Bless.

Empowering

I am sure there are plenty of others
who can relate to this.

Another 'new' boss that was formerly
a peer trying to make a mark for themselves.

Well, in 2013, my role has been severely diminished,
in my opinion.  You see, I have reported directly to the
Director of NA for over six years but as of Jan 1 of this year,
I had a layer of bureaucracy placed between us.
You see, we are 'global' so a Frenchman was made my direct boss.
And then in July, without and notice or announcement, my team
found out (due to mid-year reviews) that we would now have yet
ANOTHER layer of bureaucracy placed between us and the
now 'global' Director....

Well this 'new' boss is certainly trying to feel her oats and
micromanage.  Something that was unheard of from our former
boss, the Director.

Can I tell you that after six years of working with complete automony
how hard it is to adjust to someone who has never managed people
before and it micromanaging how frustrating it is?

I had a 'catch up' meeting late Friday afternoon that was the
last straw.  The camel's back has broken.  I am so disengaged.

So what control do I have?  I can control my reaction and actions.

So I made an empowering move over the weekend.

I updated the ole resume and applied for a job outside the company.

I really don't care if I hear from them, it just made me feel good to do it.
And I plan to empower myself and begin applying for roles outside of
my current company because I haven't seen anything inside that appeals
to me.

Wish me luck.  Have no idea how long it will take but at least I have
taken a first step to find something that will make me happy because
what I have now is a job, not a career but a job... and I am tired of it.

Happy Monday Mes Amies!
