Happy Birthday Dad... I miss you

Today would have been my Dad's
83rd Birthday had he not passed
away in 1987.

I miss him and wonder...
had he not died, would he have
helped me with my youngest?

My Dad was a Marine and was
very proud to have served the USA
in the Korean War.

He raised us with three squares.
Our first song we learned as children was
From the Halls of Montezuma
Followed by Silent Night.

I have both good and bad memories
of my Dad but mostly Great Ones.

He suffered with Leukemia his last
year of life.  He was buried the week
before my youngest was born.

I wonder... would things have
been different if this former Marine
lived long enough to meet my son.

Happy 83rd Dad!
I love you and miss you
and hope to see you again
one day.

Perfect timing

Out with the old,
In with the new,
Happy Rosh Hashanah
From me to you!

To my dear friend,
Happy New Year!

Milestone Met

Dylan, for those of you who don't know already,
my first grandchild, turned 1 last Wednesday.

As I sit back and ponder, I realize that this
past year seems to have flown by.  I simply
cannot believe he's one already!

Here he is on the day he was born...

Since his arrival into my life last year,
he has brought me so much joy and
happiness, just by being here.

I have needed to rely on the love I
have for him and the deep joy he brings
into my life as I trudged through some
tough times.

He's been my hero without even trying!

I love my little grandson and
thank God he's in my life.

Here he is as immediate family celebrated his
first Happy Birthday!
My, how he's grown!

Happy First Birthday to my Scrump-Dylly-icious!

Looking forward to celebrating it
with your family & friends on
October 1st.

What a Breath of Fresh Air This Morning

Loved it when I walked out the door.
Such crispness in the air.

This (and the Spring) is
the time of year
I love.

            • Crisp Air
            • Cool Mornings
            • Bright Sunshine

Perfect for a Pizza and Diet Coke
Lunch in the park!
:-)

Hope you enjoy your day today
As much as I am mine.

Long Day Today

Drove to and from the NIH
in Bethesda, MD today.

Up early to start the trip
trying to avoid Baltimore's
and D.C.'s rush hours.

Ummm, well that didn't work!

Spent the day helping out a
Sales Rep going lab-to-lab
to raise awareness of a new
product available in the storeroom.

What a huge campus.
We focused on one building
with hundreds of labs.

Floor after floor,
Hall after hall,
Lab after lab.

Pretty big building, wouldn't you agree?

I wonder if I could do that
full time... had one person
tell me that my 'visit' was like
that phone call that comes
during dinner.

Ouch!  LOL, nothing personal
I'm sure.

In order to avoid the Baltimore and
Philly rush hours, left early for home.

Boy, was I tired. Plopped in bed and
watched the movie M*A*S*H.
Well I should say, started to watch
the movie M*A*S*H... but
drifted off to sleep for a needed nap.

Long day today.

Tomorrow, it's back to the old bump n' grind.

We Shall Never Forget

For those who perished,
For those who survived,
For those who were left to pick up the pieces.

God Bless the USA

It's Raining, It's Pouring, the Old Man is Snoring...

... went to bed and bumped his head
and couldn't get up the next morning!

My goodness it's rained alot, or rather,
ALOT this week here in the NorthEast!

Mudslides, flash floods, fallen trees,
closed roads, wet basements, traffic
jams, rolling thunder, you sorta
get the picture.

This morning, I awakened hubby when
the alarm went off.  He had a treatment
today and needed to be up bright and
early, or rather as the case may be, dreary
and wet!

Asked him if he heard the thunder last night, nope.
I said it woke me up twice, one clap must have hit
nearby because it was so loud and then the fire house
whistle began to blow.

Since it rained so heavily, hubby decided to go and
check the basement for water...

No rain water was found but what was found was
worse... and I certainly pray that no water seeps in
at all because it will just become one big MESS!

Good news is that the basement smells divine!
Bad news is, the large container of liquid detergent,
the kind that you buy at those warehouse stores,
somehow fell off the table and fell on it's cap and broke
open and spilled its contents all over the basement floor!

Talk about Slip Sliding Away... that stuff is Slip-Er-EEEEEEEEE!

So fellow NorthEasterners, how'd you fare?

Well it certainly wasn't Brideshead revisited...

and I had hoped to never have to revisit
this place again...but I did.

It had been over a month and I had no
communication and my motherly instincts
told me to go even though I said I wouldn't.

It tears me up, tortures me each time I must leave.

Not because it's a place I hold near and dear.
Quite the opposite.

As it turns out, I was the first visitor that had
been there.

Oh how it saddened me to leave, not the place
but him behind.

A tear drops from my eye and slowly makes
its way down my cheek.

I wipe it away and pray for a new day,
a new beginning.

I pray that this is the last time a visit
to this place is needed.
